Illustrator>Photoshop

Before you get upset let me explain that i mean that i personally prefer illustrator's drawing system to Photoshops

my opionion

but i would prefer photoshop if you want to create something from scratch. Illustrator is better for modifying objects.

They are for two different things. They are similar in some ways, but serve very different purposes.

Photoshop is for creating elaborate type, manipulating photos, and making more realistic pictures.

Illustrator is for drawing vector illustrations, and it can be used to make handouts and whatnot. (Photoshop can too, but more illustrator)
Illustrator also has many great tools to manipulate text.
